Winners of New Visions

Winners of the Lake Wales New Visions
A Fine Art Show

April 17, 2012 Lake Wales, Fla – A mixed media painting, “Just Resting” by Joseph Detrell received Best of Show honors at the reception and awards ceremony on April 13, 2012 as 51 works by more than 30 artists were judged by Robert Morrissey. Mr. Morrissey has taught art, painting, watercolor, drawing, and figure drawing at the college level for 30 years. He has served as a judge and juror at art gallery shows and outdoor festivals throughout Florida. Mr. Morrissey has exhibited in many galleries and outdoor festivals.

Other winners of the New Visions – A Fine Art Show include:

Oil Painting:  First Place - "Blue Vase with White Gladiolus” by Barbara Dyer; Second Place - "Look What I Grew” by Mary Austin; Third Place - "Boy Fishing” by Jerry Brenning; Honorable Mention, -"19th Hole Bridge” by Marcia Carron.

Acrylic Painting: First Place - "Untitled” by Diane Lescard; Second Place - "Maine Seacoast” by Clem Newbold; Third Place – “Bok Tower: Shady Haven” by Jane Fronappel; Honorable Mention – “Tiger Creek-Enchanted Morning” by Rickie Settle; Honorable Mention – “Picturesque Circle B Bar Reserve” by Beverly Peterson.

Mixed Media Painting: First Place - "Andy & Lily in the Lane” by Danny Caldwell; Second Place - "Liberty with Bucket of Falling Stars” by Vivian David.

Watercolor Painting: First Place – “Mountain Stream” by Willa Campbell; “Birds of Africa” by Barbara Dyer.

Photography:  First Place - "Beyond Reality No. 1” by Terry Mann; Second Place: “Porter Bridge, Maine” by Sylvia Mills.

Pianist Tammy Little entertained guests as they sampled the yummy refreshments prior to the announcement of the award winners. The art work will be on display at the Lake Wales Arts Center, 1099 SR 60 E through May 31, 2012.

The Lake Wales Arts Council, Inc. and City of Lake Wales began offering this quarterly juried art show in 2004. It provides an excellent venue for local artists to show their work and compete for ribbon prizes in several categories along with a Best of Show award. The show also provides the Municipal Building with a quality fine art display for the enjoyment of all of the visitors and staff. Many of the pieces on exhibit are for sale by the artists at very reasonable prices. The Show has continued to grow over the years with more than 100 artists participating in one or more shows.
