Driven to Abstraction with Tony Eitharong and Carol Frye
Art Exhibit Opens at Lake Wales Arts Center
Lake Wales, Fla -   The Lake Wales Arts Council announces the opening of Driven to Abstraction exhibition with the art work of Tony Eitharong and Caroly Fry in the Michael Crews Gallery at the Lake Wales Arts Center. Driven to Abstraction opens on April 26, 2012 and will be on display through May 31, 2012. A reception and award ceremony will take place on April 26 in the Michael Crews Gallery from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and is open to the public.
Tony Eitharong’s early mastery of technique resulted in detailed graphite drawings of great realism.  His more recent work has found its great expression in a bold use of color and multi-media assemblies contrasting dramatic images of childhood innocence and peace with the realities of war and destruction. Eitharong has won many major awards nationwide with his unique style of painting and his wonderful creations from found objects. In Driven to Abstraction, Eitharong moves to abstract art. Eitharong is affiliated with several galleries, has had numerous one-person exhibitions across the country, judged at art shows in Florida, and his art work is part of many permanent collections.

Carol Frye’s work has moved from realism and landscapes to abstraction in a variety of forms. Originally from Pennsylvania, Carol and her family moved to Florida in 1994. Her vibrant strokes of color, bold calligraphy and brilliant foils have made her passionate expressions accessible to viewers. Her current works are both experimental and intuitive. She believes painting is really a spiritual process and each painting seems to flow and grow, layer upon layer quite naturally. A consistent award winner, her paintings have been included in major local, national and international competitions. Her work has also been featured in several books and national art organizations.
Driven to Abstraction exhibit is generously sponsored by Polk State College.
The Arts Center is located at 1099 S.R. 60 East in Lake Wales.  There is no charge to visit the gallery which is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For additional information contact the Lake Wales Arts Council, Inc. at (863) 676-8426 or email at info@lw-arts.org.
